Tuning the gas-powered cars is the norm for the car enthusiasts. They love to tweak with engines, exhausts, and gearboxes to make their vehicles go faster.

Tuning a vehicle is such an extensive department that the results rather be astounding. We can tune gas-powered cars to make almost double the power than the stock configurations. But this is not the case with electric vehicles.

Tesla is the only major electric carmaker, and they do not love anyone else playing with their cars. You can not get any more power until Tesla provides it by either a software update or some performance package.

It’s all in hands of folks at Tesla

It all started in a Canadian garage, when the team of engineers started conversion of a single motor Model 3 into the dual motor package. The team popped open the inverter to make necessary changes for the upgrade. They found something that got the team ticking. The inverter was capable of much more than it was being used for.

This discovery led to the formation of Ingenext, the company that is now selling the performance upgrade hack for around half the original price.

The project is in collaboration with the Electrified Garage(a third part Tesla workshop) and YouTuber Rich Rebuilds.

Tesla provides standard Model 3 with a 0–60 time of 4.4 seconds and Performance version with 0–60 time of 3.8 seconds. According to Ingenext, they have successfully hacked the Ghost Model 3 beyond the territory of the Performance Model 3. They equipped The Ghost model with Level 2 crack, which allows Tesla to do 0–60 runs in a staggering 3.4 seconds.

The modifiers tested the cars side-by-side for 0–60 launches and crushed the Performance Model 3 by a considerable margin. The package not only comes with a performance boost but also includes the drift mode, lap mode and Battery pack heating.

The engineers at Ingenext went onto change some lines of code and tricked the system into producing more power at the wheels. This is the first time anyone outside Tesla has enhanced the power of a Tesla vehicle.

Ingenext is selling the hack starting $1100, for the basic package. The hack also requires some hardware tweaks.

Folks at Ingenext, are already working on a Level 3 tweak, unlocking many more characteristics of Tesla vehicles.

But Ingenext has a huge concern for them. Tesla does not love people messing around with their cars. In the past, Rich has reported the concern about Tesla removing Supercharger access from most of his repaired Teslas. This should not be a problem, but we never know what Tesla plans on next.

Tesla claims that they do this to prevent their brand image. They cite salvaged Tesla’s as a major reason behind fires.
I do not think this hack is going to create a concern for the company or owners of the Teslas.

I Hope Tesla does not revoke the access to Supercharging for these vehicles and let the tuners continue their work.
