Scientists have studied the possible impacts of extraterrestrial objects landing on earth as a potential source of origin for the abundance of water and life on earth. No conclusive evidence either way has yet been found. The physical impact of comets passing earth is going to be immeasurable small given their relative size and distance from earth.
