For International Women’s Day 2018 we wanted to celebrate the stories of some of the women who have made breakthroughs as the firsts in their professional domain at Redbubble. We commemorate them by capturing their reflections on the challenges they have faced, the triumphs they have had, and their hopes on how we can individually and collectively continue to champion gender equality.

Below are the profiles of five women we have chosen to showcase this year: Rahna Griffin, Natalie Tyler, Corina Davis, Amanda Koh and Candy Goodison. Undoubtedly, their contribution as colleagues, technical experts and leaders have been important, influential and inspiring for us.

RHANA GRIFFIN: CONTROVERSIAL CONTENT COORDINATOR

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to work from home my entire career with Redbubble which has been the formative years for my boys. This, combined with flexible hours, has enabled me to travel a somewhat easier path than most but it can still be tricky when you have the desire to be the best parent you can be, and still endeavour to maintain your work ethic.”

NATALIE TYLER: CONTENT DIRECTOR

“My biggest challenge has been learning how to talk about my work and accomplishments. I’m terrible at it. For a long time I convinced myself that it was fine to just ‘let the work speak for itself’ but as Redbubble has grown, I’ve realised I really should spend time on it. But it’s something I still struggle with.”

CORINA DAVIS: EVP BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER

“Helping grow RB from a startup to a public company and being a part of the senior leadership team here is hands down my biggest achievement.”

AMANDA KOH: ENGINEERING MANAGER & STAFF ENGINEER

“My biggest challenge has been learning to navigate social expectations while still being true to myself, and maybe learning which expectations are worth letting down.”

CANDY GOODISON: SOFTWARE ENGINEER

“As I am still just starting out in my career one of my biggest achievements was completing my computer science degree. After originally studying game design taking my career in a more technical direction was a big step for me, and one I was not sure I could succeed in. Completing my degree gave me more confidence in my technical skills and ability to tackle complex problems.”
