Earlier this month, the Norwegian Red Cross and the IFRC held a training on Community Based Surveillance in Dakar, Senegal. 26 participants from 16 national societies attended the training to learn more about data analysis and representation, epidemiology, data flows and protection, and implementation and programming of community based surveillance.

On the last day, the participants were introduced to the NorCross CBS platform. They were taken to the fictional country of Mandawi, where they were presented with cases of people who were sick. When they found a valid case, they had to report it via SMS to the CBS platform and try to detect and stop the outbreak.

The simulation was a great success, and all the participants were very impressed by the platform. Some even asked when they could start implementing it in their own national societies!
