Event-storming for Codeathon

On Thursday, the CBS core team met up for an event-storming session in preparation for the Codeathon 3.0.

For those of you who are new to event-storming, it is a group modeling technique which allows for a brainstorming of how to build the system, based on the needs of the domain experts. Sounds complicated, I know, but it really isn’t!

Basically what this means is that the health experts (i.e. the domain experts) and the software developers sit together in a workshop to find out what we need in the domain and how this can be translated to the CBS software.

The result? A bunch of post-its on a wall!

These post-its hold the key to the future system development. Each yellow note shows an aspect of what the health professionals need which the tech experts can then translate into code.

On Thursday we discussed our alert functions — how the system needs to behave when we want to raise an alert of a potential disease risk. By alerting early, we can respond quickly and appropriately and save lives!

A pretty cool use of post-its if you ask me!

Sound like something you want to contribute to? Join us for the codeathon!
