Tomorrow, Merete will be going home after working with setting up and using the CBS platform in the response after the cyclone in Mozambique.

Here are her thoughts on what the past month has been like in Mozambique:

It has been a hectic and exciting month. To see the system working and that we can provide real-time data every night it is pretty cool. The volunteers have done great work with treating people and done a great job in fighting cholera. They have also contributed to fast reporting, by sending the SMS report every evening.

The CBS platform was successfully set up. In this mission, we have had good internet and electricity, so the platform has been up running the whole time.

The CBS system is active at 10 oral rehydration points [manned by the Mozambique Red Cross] that are placed around the affected area of Beira. We started with reporting on acute watery diarrhoea, and this last week we have also introduced to send an additonal SMS for other health risk the volunteers see at the ORPs. This gives us an overview over activity in total and let us see other risks that are referred to health facilities. This is important now when the cases of cholera are going down, but still a lot of people from the community are coming to the tents for other questions. We also get to test the tool when we have more SMS coming in. This help us also for further development of the tool.

I will take home a lot of experience from the field, that I hope can contribute to developing the program even further.

Thanks for all the work and support from all of you that help us developing this tool!
