Starting today, buyers in over 20+ countries on Redeeem can buy credits with Apple Pay or a Debit Card using our new integration with Wyre. We believe Wyre is one of the most user-friendly fiat onramps into Bitcoin and crypto, and we are please to announce our partnership.

Wyre has far better design than CoinPayments.

Background on Wyre

Much like TransferWise achieved for international remittances, Wyre had a vision of leveraging blockchain technology to build a faster and more cost-effective way of transferring funds internationally. In its first 5 years of operation, it had facilitated more than 5 billion USD in cryptocurrency trades.

So what’s the magic?

Wyre created a foreign exchange engine that intelligently and securely routes money abroad using hundreds of liquidity providers and settlement methods, including Bitcoin, ERC20 tokens, and other altcoins. Wyre offers a JSON REST API that supports a wide range of financial, cryptocurrency, and identity services. It can broker peer-to-peer exchanges, validate KYC/AML information, and transfer to/from traditional banking systems is a safe and compliant manner.

Buying Credits

For newbies on Redeeem, Credits are calculated in USD and are required to buy all gift cards. You can buy credits instantly by sending Bitcoin to your RedeeemPay address.

You can also pay with a debit card or altcoins like Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Ethereum (ERC20) tokens using our CoinPayment integration.

Impacted Regions

Wyre will be available to Redeeem customers in 20+ countries.

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United States.

The Wyre Widget

You can buy between $5 to $250 of credits per day with Apple Pay or debit card using our Wyre integration. Wyre will transfer Bitcoin to your RedeeemPay wallet address. Please note, Apple Pay will only work on Safari browsers, we recommend using Apple Pay on your mobile iOS device. The charge will appear as Wyre CA on your bank statement. We recommend this option to test Redeeem for the first time, but we don’t recommend this option for bulk buying due to the higher fees and relatively low purchase limits compared to crypto. No KYC will be required to buy credits with Wyre on Redeeem.

The transaction should appear in Apple Pay immediately after confirmation.

Fees
The cost will be 3.9% + $0.30 + per transaction

Limits
$250 per transfer
$1,000 per week
$2,500.00 per year

Debit Cards
ApplePay (Safari browsers only)
MasterCard, Discover, VISA, Discover, 3DS

Interview with Jack Jia (Wyre)

In March 2019 (last year), we had founding employee Jack Jia from Wyre on Around the Coin where he discussed inspiration for the idea back in 2013 when they believed they could use bitcoin behind the scenes to enable much faster and cheaper foreign exchange between companies and individuals. Today, with nearly $10.6M in capital funding, Wyre is a major player in the crypto landscape that is unfolding globally and we are proud to finally work together.

Episode 169: Interview with Jack Jia of Wyre.
