For a long time I didn’t know the meaning of the word, femnist. I looked it up and Wikipedia said,

Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social equality of sexes.

Honestly, this is too hard English for me and I didn't quite understand the real meaning of feminism. It was after I started hanging out with some of femnist friends and from them I learned about gender inequality. I started to see the differences in opportunities between male and female.

Learning more and more about this issue, talking to people, I found out about toxic masculanity. It took me a long time to understand how toxic mascualnity has been affecting my life. Now I’ve been learning on how can I get out of toxic masculinity and I’m making progress.

I still ask myself,

Why I hesitated to call myself a male feminist?

Here is my reasoning,

  • Some of male friends might say, do you not support your own gender? You understand male problems right. — Now my response, of course I support male gender and I understand male problems. But consedring other genders not equal is NOT supporting my own gender.

Man is not someone who doesn't feel pain, man is someone who doesn’t give pain.

  • I thought people might see me as weak — Now my response, people who think being a feminist is weak, they are themselves weak. They decide to follow the society standards, instead of going against them.

Now I don’t care about people’s opinions. I just want to be myself.

I’ve learned over time that the more I care about peope’s opinons the more I will restrict myself. Now I’m over people’s opinions and

I’m proud to call myself a male femnist.
