Ford CEO Admits Expedition SUV Was Designed to Fail Crash Test to Aid Natural Selection
“Anyone Dumb Enough to Buy this Oversized SUV and Ram it Into a Wall Deserves What’s Coming”
Two weeks ago, Ford was called out by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its large SUV’s lackluster performance in some redesigned crash tests. In both the new Small and Moderate Front Overlap tests, the Expedition scored only “Marginal” overall, the second-lowest score possible.
“This is somewhat surprising,” commented IIHS Vice President Raul Arbelaez. “Not only did the Expedition severely underperform compared to its main competitors, but its ratings also fell short of the smaller Ford Explorer.” For reference, the Explorer received the highest-possible “Good” rating across the board.
Arbelaez continues,
If the Expedition was held to the same standard as other recent Ford models we’ve tested, it should’ve performed much better. It’s almost as if the automaker knew there was a problem, and did nothing about it…
