Are electric bikes a milestone for the mobility?
Why electric mobility?
Electric mobility when shortened e-mobility is utilizing electric powered technologies for transportation. So, here the power source changes from the carbon-emitting fossil fuels to electrical power sources which could be charged externally.
Talking in general about electric vehicles there are numerous advantages of using them. They are cheaper to run, environmental friendly and their low harmful exhaust emissions make it favorable for the health.
History of e-bikes
E-bikes were introduced in the late 19th century. It was a good solution for the traffic. But it was not a good time as there were primarily 2 main issues holding the boom of e-bikes behind. First one was the heavy weight of the electrically driven wheels and the second one was the low range of the batteries. The invention of lithium-ion battery in 1991 solved the weight problem. In the present day, one battery charge on the e-Bike can cover over 100 kilometers and batteries have become affordable due to the mass production of laptops. All these factors eventually shaped up in the favor of e-Bikes. So at the present, e-Bikes are considered as a milestone for the mobility of the future.

Sri Lanka and Rhoda AT.
The latest country to join this spree of selecting e-Bikes over other modes of transport is Sri Lanka. Rhoda has introduced Rhoda AT which happens to be the first e-bike manufactured in Sri Lanka. They claim that Rhoda has a powerful electric motor and that it could be driven for 60km from single charge. As the traffic around urban areas is high and the pollution is getting increased day after day, Rhoda AT could be the ideal solution for many human and environmental issues
