The First and Only Fully Automated E-Commerce Platform Developed for a Pet Store in NY

The world is full of pet lovers. Most of them are in awe of puppies. Central Park Puppies pet shop in New York is for them who are looking for one. In the vastly digitized world, the use of IT is extremely important if you want your business to survive amidst the competition. The pet shops are not an exception.

Redot joined hands with “Central Park Puppies” in 2018. They trusted us with their ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Which helped them to streamline everything at their shop and have become productive. As they were extremely satisfied with our expertise in IT, work ethics and the final system, “Central Park Puppies” decided to continue working with Redot and that is how we became their official IT partner.

Till now, 2020 was an extremely challenging year for whole world. COVID-19 spread its wings throughout impacting the lives of people and businesses in a big way making a quick recovery almost impossible. “Central Park Puppies fell prey for this as many other businesses did as well. Although the demand was there for the puppies the people were reluctant to come to the shop and buy one for them. Their businesses dropped a big time. They tried to take the orders over the phone and deliver the puppies at home. But the process was tough and not convenient. When they discussed with us on this issue, we agreed to an automated system, an e-commerce website to hike their sales up.

Out of the many challenges, the first one was that we had limited time as the system was urgent. We had to integrate the pet shop management system that we created and maintained since 2018 with our e-commerce platform. According to the system we suggested they could select the puppy and order it online where most of the back office functions are automated. Listed below is how the system functions with the challenges Redot developers faced and how they triumphed over.

· Getting the customer verification through his/her signature was a key. We used an E-Signature platform to overcome this. The contracts are automatically generated so that the customer could sign and submit.

· Records of purchases are extremely important in report generations on a latter day. The system keeps track of the purchases and the records will be stored within.

· We used additional Webhooks to keep all the data synced between different platforms to work together.

· At the first few minutes of the release we have received an unexpected traffic to the site which resulted us to move everything overnight into AWS with load balancers to keep up with an uninterrupted service.

The system was extremely successful. Central Park Puppies started to see a rapid growth in their sales and they were able to sail through the hard times to our pleasure. They have decided to stick with the online system even after the situation settles down for good.
