The problem: With the migration to the cloud, data consumption and operationalization has exploded along with the proliferation of purpose-built data stores for differing workloads. Statistica estimated that in 2022 alone, 97 zettabytes of data were created, and that figure is expected to grow 87% to 181 zettabytes by 2025. AI is driving a large portion of this growth as nearly every enterprise rushes to implement AI capabilities. However, with these new capabilities, and this new deluge of data, comes an even greater need for cloud security that can enable modern enterprises to both protect and secure their (and our) data.

Enter Cyera: Cyera is revolutionizing the data security landscape and addressing the fundamental challenges faced by security teams in the cloud era. The platform utilizes AI-based classification that empowers security teams to gain instant insight and control over their data and answer questions that today’s teams are often left struggling with around data location, access, and exposure to risks. The platform can detect and prevent threats in real-time, providing businesses with proactive defense against ever-evolving cyber threats looking beyond traditional rule-based systems and utilizing scalable and adaptive solutions to safeguard sensitive data.

Unlike many existing tools that focus on intrusive agents, Cyera was built specifically for the cloud era. By embracing an agentless approach, Cyera replaces legacy deployments and connectors, providing a streamlined and efficient data security solution that is scalable with today’s data workloads. Ultimately, this empowers data security teams to manage incidents, define policies, apply controls, and drive workflows seamlessly, all from a single platform.

Reshaping Cybersecurity: By combining advanced AI and machine learning technologies with a visionary team, Cyera is uniquely positioned to tackle the evolving threats facing organizations today. And behind every successful company are founders who possess the vision and expertise to drive innovation forward; and this is certainly no exception. Cyera’s founders Yotam Segev and Tamar Bar-Ilan and their team of industry veterans have extensive experience in cybersecurity, data science, and AI. Yotam and Tamar met at Talpilot and then worked closely together while serving in the 8200, the largest unit in the Israel Defense Forces, where they spent years problem solving together. Fast forward to today, we see Cyera as a catalyst that will transform the industry and greater market, and set new standards for data protection while pioneering a new era of data security.

Read all about it: Today Cyera is announcing their $100M Series B (and since launching from stealth in March 2022, the company has secured $160M in total funding.) While Cyera primarily focuses on data discovery and classification in the cloud, the new funds will enable the company to set its focus on securing all of a company’s data workloads beyond the cloud in hosted data centers and on-prem deployments, building a true data security platform. We’re excited to share that Logan Bartlett will be joining the Cyera board as an observer and Sai Senthikumar will also be actively involved, and we’re thrilled to be joining Accel, Sequoia, Cyberstarts, and Rene Bonvanie on this exciting journey, and for all of Cyera’s continued success to come.
