Redwood City Library Summer Learning Challenge Series: July Events

The 2017 Summer Learning Challenge began on June 1 and features weekly events happening all summer long at all of our libraries! Enjoy activities centered on music, animals, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), creative crafts, illusions, storytelling, and more!

The Redwood City Public Library is very excited that over 9,800 kids have signed up for the Summer Learning Challenge so far! This is almost halfway to our goal of 20,000 sign-ups!

You should join the Summer Learning Challenge too! Kids through age 12 and teens from 13+ are encouraged to engage in summer learning activities offered by the Redwood City Public Library to continue boosting their academic growth throughout summer break. Sign up for events, contests and fun all summer long!

Kids can sign-up any time at any Redwood City Public Library branch or online here. To find your local library branch go here.

The Redwood City Public Library and Friends of the Library will also be marching in the annual 4th of July parade. During the parade, the Library will have a booth to register for the Summer Learning Challenge so make sure to stop by, while you wait for the parade to start, and sign up! Looking for books? In the Downtown Library’s bookstore, run by the Friends of Redwood City Public Library, there is a feature sale with a combination of books for children, books for summer fun, and books for the Summer Learning Challenge! The books include activities, art, learning, school skills, and fiction for a wide age range. Stop by, sign up for the Summer Learning Challenge, and pick up a book! Proceeds from the sales support all of the performers and events during the Summer Learning Challenge.

#DerektheDirector Dress Up Challenge is Back! (Starting July 1)

Visit your local Redwood City branch library each week to vote on what Derek will wear next. There is no limit to how often you can vote so visit your branch Library as often as you like and your vote will make a difference. Sign Up!

Last summer, over 14,000 children from Redwood City and North Fair Oaks participated in the Summer Learning Challenge at Redwood City Public Library, which is extraordinary! Our goal is to get up to 50% of the kids 0–12 in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks to enjoy the benefits of the program. That would require about 20,000 kids to sign up. So tell your friends, family, kids, grand-kids, great grand-kids, school connections, and members of your church: the Library looks forward to seeing everyone during the 2017 Summer Learning Challenge!
