Redwood City Summer Events Series: June Events

The first week of each summer month, we will showcase events planned for the month to keep you up to date and in the know!

I know, we can’t believe it either! June is here and that means summer events in Redwood City are back! Join us for fun music, movies, art and more all summer long.

Here is what’s planned for June! See you out and about!

Music on the Square

June 1 — The Peelers Band

June 8 — Metal Shop

June 15 — Mustache Harbor

June 22 — Steel ’n’ Chicago

June 29 — Cisco Kid

Redwood City is renowned for its incredible variety of free concerts and entertainment, featuring top-quality local and national performers. From rock, blues, Celtic, and swing, to Latin, salsa, country, jazz, and more, these free concerts are a great way to spend your summer with friends, family, and neighbors in beautiful Redwood City! Thanks to sponsorship and community support, we are able to continue to bring you these two-hour (6–8 p.m.) high-energy shows that get everyone off their feet dancing and having a great time.

ART on the Square

June 15, 5–8:30 p.m.

ART on the Square brings the best in original fine arts and crafts to downtown Redwood City. 2018 marks the twelfth year of this amazing event! Find painting, photography, jewelry, glass, fiber art, woodwork, and more — with prices for every budget.

Movies on the Square

June 7 — Lion (PG-13)

June 14 — LEGO Batman Movie (PG)

June 21 — Jurassic Park (PG-13)

June 28 — Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (PG-13)

Enjoy downtown Redwood City on Courthouse Square by bringing the family out to a free movie! Experience Redwood City’s high definition surround sound 25’ outdoor theater. Bring your blankets and pick up take-out food from Redwood City’s nearby wonderful restaurants! We also have a small snack bar on site serving up popcorn, candy, and water. Thursday evening movie nights start at sundown (approximately 8:45pm). Come early for the best seats (a limited number of chairs and tables are available). You are also welcome to bring your own!

Kidchella

June 24 — Alison Faith Levy’s Big Time Tot Rock

Redwood City is proud to offer our kids music series for a sixth year! Sponsored by Redwood City’s Public Library and Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, this series will provide a safe and fun environment for kids to dance, play, and enjoy live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Your family will be thrilled to enjoy music, along with an inflatable play-land at the Kidchella concerts this summer!

Sounds of the Shores

June 24 — Touch of Class

Redwood City takes its summer music out to Redwood Shores! Marlin Park is located on the lagoons of Redwood Shores and provides a picturesque setting for live music. There will also be food concessions available. Concerts run from 5–7 p.m.

Music in the Park

June 13 — Johnny Vegas and the High Rollers

June 20 — Janel and the Heist

June 27 — The Klipptones

Join us for free music in Stafford Park on Wednesday evenings from 6–8 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs to relax in the park while listening to live music. There is a concession tent selling hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, and drinks, graciously operated and donated by the Optimist Club of Redwood City. All proceeds benefit the Save the Music program in Redwood City Schools.

Classical Series

June 23, 7 p.m. — Redwood Symphony

For the classical, instrumental and opera music lover, or anyone who appreciates great musical talent, these concerts are for you! Families will love these free concerts, performed outdoors on beautiful Courthouse Square.

Pub in the Park

June 16 in Mezes Park — The Jones Gang

Come lounge in the park, listen to live Americana and Bluegrass music, sip delicious local brews and enjoy lawn games at Pub in the Park! Our British-style inflatable pub will offer quality beers on tap from local breweries including Blue Oak Brewing, and cider from South City Cider during four Saturdays from June to September. Pub in the Park offers a laid-back space to hang with friends and family and enjoy some cold ones. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for a picnic style afternoon. Food trucks will also be available for guests’ enjoyment.

Magic Lantern 3D Light Show

The Redwood City Improvement Association (RCIA) invites you to experience a 3D video mapping light show! The Magic Lantern 3D Light Show, designed by world-renowned light show artist Bart Kresa, covers the San Mateo County History Museum with an array of colorful lights, taking viewers on an abstract adventure. The 20-minute show is free and family-friendly on Tuesday nights!

At events on Courthouse Square, a limited number of tables and chairs will be available. At any event, you can also bring your own setup to be comfortable throughout the event. You are also welcome to bring food to the events. Please remember to help keep Redwood City beautiful by picking up your belongings and any waste before you leave the event.
