You’ve got a Question, the City of Redwood City has the Answer

Q: What is the Parent Project — Loving Solutions class?

A: The Loving Solutions Class is part of the nationally acclaimed Parent Project curriculum. This class trains parents of children ages 5 to 10 with behavioral issues. Parents can learn how to reduce family conflict, give positive praise and address problematic behavior. The Loving Solutions course offers 12 sessions which occur once a week for three hours, facilitated by members of the Redwood City Police Department who have received specialized training and are certified Parent Project instructors. This class is sponsored by the Redwood City Police Department. Interested participants must register for the course by calling the Juvenile Services Unit at (650) 780–7195. Classes begin on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016. For more information go here.

Q: The pay-by-space parking kiosks are so slow. Can you fix this?

A: Good news! Pay-by-space parking kiosks in downtown Redwood City are being replaced this week. The new kiosks will be equipped with new technology that will speed up payment processing. Your payment should now be processed in less than 15 seconds.

Q: I heard Oracle was building a high school on their campus. Do you have more details?

A: Design Tech High School (d.tech) first launched in August 2014 as a public charter high school in the San Mateo Union High School District.

Oracle plans to build a new high school facility for d.tech on its Redwood Shores campus, scheduled to be completed in the fall 2017. The school incorporates technology, design and problem-solving skills to help students prepare for successful careers.

The facility will feature a 64,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, LEED-certified school used by 550 students and 30 faculty, as well as the local community.

The school will be free to attend, and admission is based on a lottery system. Preference is given to students living in the San Mateo Union High School District.
