You’ve got a Question, the City of Redwood City has the Answer

Q: I want to go to Redwood City Oktoberfest! Does the ticket price give me anything besides entry?
A: We’re so glad you’re excited about Oktoberfest — so are we! The famous annual festival comes to downtown Redwood City this fall. The huge decked-out Oktoberfest tent will take over Courthouse Square — complete with over 1,100 feet of “family style” bench seating for you to relax and enjoy the best in authentic German food and beer, dancing and singing. You can also participate in dance and yodeling contests, stein holding, skits with hand gestures to select songs, and more. Of course the event wouldn’t be complete without many variations of the “international” chicken dance.
An entrance fee ($18-$20 for adults and $10-$12 for kids & designated drivers) includes a commemorative stein and one drink ticket (beer or soda depending on ticket type), along with great German-style entertainment featuring AlpinersUSA and The Golden Gate Bavarian Club.
Delicious German food and extra drink tickets will be sold separately.
This event is always a huge hit and may sell out so buy your tickets in advance here. For more information on this event go here.

Q: What’s SunShares and how can I get involved?
A: SunShares is a new program offering group discounts and free education on solar and zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) and other clean energy programs to residents of the greater Bay Area, including Redwood City.
Under the SunShares program, any Bay Area resident can purchase discounted ZEVs (2016 Nissan Leaf and the new Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle) or install rooftop solar at prices well below market rates (15% discount). The program also offers free workshops that can help homeowners, drivers, and renters understand their clean energy options.
You can register for SunShares now! Participants have until Nov. 4 to sign up for limited-time discounts, and must sign a contract with one of the selected providers by Nov.18 to qualify for the group discount.
For more information on Bay Area SunShares, please go to their website.or email them at sunshares@bc3sfbay.org.

Q: I saw some promotions for a blood drive downtown. Where and when is this taking place?
A: The Downtown Redwood City Public Library is hosting a Blood Centers of the Pacific sponsored blood drive on August 19 from 10am — 3pm. You can help save a life and be entered to win a car from Stevens Creek Toyota! There is currently a shortage of blood, which makes your donation extremely critical..
