Halborn Completes Audit of Reef Chain
Halborn, an award-winning blockchain security auditor, recently completed the audit of Reef Finance’s Reef Chain, the first Substrate-based chain to launch its full, public mainnet in coordination with Klever. The results of the audit have now been published, and we are happy to say Halborn found no major issues.
With the vision of Making DeFi Easy, it was important for Reef Finance to launch before another wave of users took notice of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and especially decentralized finance. Thanks to the diligent work by Halborn, that has been possible and the team can now focus on onboarding the numerous integrations and collaborations announced over the past few months.
In summary, through a variety of automated and manual testing methods over a three-week period, Halborn’s team identified few security risks and recommended further testing and auditing be completed.
When assessing the likelihood of an incident occurring, or the risk scale of the impact, a rating system of 1 to 5 was used with 1 being the least concern, and 5 being the most concern. Putting these two items together, a total score out of 10 could be assessed for any item of concern identified.
In the end, two Medium severity issues were identified, three Low severity issues, and one Informational. All the issues identified can be mitigated through changes to the code, or good smart contract and dApp development practices. This gave Reef Finance the confidence to roll out the public mainnet and continue to engage with Halborn and other auditors as upgrades are made.
