When Polkadot was first conceived in 2017 by Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood, no one knew just how far this new concept would go. Hot on the heels of the creation of Ethereum, Polkadot aimed to be a layer one protocol with sharding, a heterogeneous multi-chain architecture, enabling other networks to run on top of Polkadot as customized layer one “parachains” that could communicate with one another, creating an interconnected internet of blockchains. A far cry from Bitcoin and Ethereum with much greater ambitions.

Four years on, with a burgeoning ecosystem of parachains ready to go, one has emerged as a major frontrunner. Reef Finance began with building the first cross-chain DeFi operating system to allow users to trade with access to liquidity from both CEXs and DEXs in one place. The DApp offers smart lending, borrowing, staking, and mining through an AI-driven personalized Reef Yield Engine.

This was a significant advancement, but Reef Finance felt it could do more. With all the tools and technology available to launch its own blockchain ahead of Polkadot’s mainnet launch, and with hundreds of Web3 developers clamoring for the opportunity to launch their dApps on Polkadot’s parachains, why wait?

Reef Chain was born, and the momentum it has achieved has few rivals. Hundreds of developers building dozens of dApps, with a shared mission of enabling low-cost opportunities to earn interest, provide liquidity, play games, and much more on the same Substrate technology that started it all. As of today, the Reef ecosystem is filled with amazing technology, and we humbly present this ecosystem map to the community to show just how far we’ve come in a short period of time.

The Reef ecosystem broken down into categories of DeFi, Security, Investors, Exchanges, NFTs/Gaming, and Wallets.

As you can see, the Reef Ecosystem Map features projects, dApps, and exchanges from all over the world. From core infrastructure like Covalent and Pinknode, to human resource dApps like Ispolink, DeFi protocols like Relite and 5x Margin Tool, on to games and NFT dApps like Realm, CoinFantasy, and ChainGuardians. It also features some of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance, Huobi, Poloniex, and core decentralized liquidity protocols like 0x.

This is the ecosystem being built up around Reef Chain, which will be launching its full, public mainnet in the near future. With such an amazing lineup of talent building on Reef Chain now, and more coming every day, the future of Reef Finance’s Reef Chain has been solidified.
