Reel8 & Jeremy Lin have teamed up to launch an exclusive NFT collection
Ten years after Linsanity swept through the United States and made Jeremy Lin a household name, the Asian American basketball star is back — and on a new mission to shatter barriers.
This time, the battle won’t play out on the court. Instead, Lin has teamed up with Reel8 to launch a collection of exclusive Linsanity NFTs, with proceeds from the launch benefiting AAPI and cross-racial youth served by the Jeremy Lin Foundation.
The Linsanity NFT Collection features Silver, Gold, and Diamond tiers.
In addition to the early-adoption benefits which accompany purchasing an NFT in its initial run, fans will also receive access to never-before-seen footage from Linsanity: the Movie, home-movies from Jeremy’s family, access to a metaverse arena and three-point shooting game, and live AMAs with Jeremy and the Linsanity cast and crew.
With the new Linsanity NFT collection, Lin joins a roster of A-list athletes who are beginning to play ball in the cryptosphere. Fellow sports icons Tiger Woods and Tony Hawk have previously released NFT collections through Autograph.io, quarterback Tom Brady’s sports-focused NFT platform.
For Lin, who has led the Jeremy Lin Foundation’s philanthropic endeavors for over a decade, the coming Linsanity NFT launch isn’t just an opportunity to connect with fans and relive the magic of his record-shattering NBA debut. By teaming up with Reel8 — an innovative web3 platform which seeks to help demographically-underrepresented creatives promote their work — Lin hopes to draw awareness to the challenges Asian athletes and artists face within their respective industries.
Partnering with Lin for the launch is Evan Jackson Leong, director of Linsanity: the Movie (2013) and Snakehead (2021).
Leong recently sat down with Reel8 co-founder Dave Liu to discuss working with Jeremy, the importance of sharing authentic stories on screen, and the difficult nature of securing funding as an Asian American in Hollywood.
