It happened. I had too many tabs open with ongoing live events, and simply could not decide which one I should focus on. Good news are: online events are getting really good very fast. Bad news: anxiety spikes and FOMO.

It is weird, right? The more events are out there, the more difficult it becomes to make a commitment only to one. That’s taking into account that you managed to clean up your schedule to focus on full-day multiple-track event and do not have to jump on a call with client or colleague in the middle of session.

That being said, I was able to meet “my people” this time. To have deep discussions on things that matter to us, to get inspired and inspire someone else. For a very brief moment, we experienced the “serendipity” that makes events worthwhile your time.

However, “serendipity” is expression of a hard work of event organizers, and the work is even harder for the online experiences. In general, there are three reasons why people go to events: learn something, meet somebody, and participate in a shared experience. Learning aspect online has been nailed for a while, the networking aspect is being worked on, but creation of genuine shared event experience is somewhat a missing piece of puzzle for virtual conferences.

And while we are working on the missing pieces of the puzzle, let’s keep toggling those tabs. Hope the events in re:compass edition #10 will be worthwhile your time as well!
