“Work is not news.” said Jason Fried during TNW Sprint Couch Conference. He was talking about rapid transition, or, rather, scramble for companies to adjust to remote working during the times of pandemic. While the tools are out there, the systems were not.

The lack of systems brought certain chaos in everyday life. If you have been feeling under pressure to be constantly available and instantly respond to your colleagues, clients and bosses — you are not alone. It is difficult to set boundaries in the globally networked world. But work is not news, and human is not a 24/7 broadcasting channel. You should not be constantly ‘on demand’ and always available through all time zones. It’s so simple, but sometimes really has to be said out loud.

That being said, it was only one of many interesting perspectives, inspiring thoughts and funny takeaways at this couch conference. Hands down, it has been the best take on virtual conferencing experience we have seen in three months.

Therefore there is no shame to recommend the next TNW couch conference in re:compass #8. It comes from the heart.

Have you found another online event that was really impressive? Let us know!

I’ll admit: I am writing this guide while listening to talks at TNW Sprint Couch Conference and it is GLORIOUSLY GOOD. It’s called TNW Checkout, it is all about retail and ecommerce, and done in collaboration with the Financial Times. The promise is talks with top thinkers including Founder of Takeaway.com, Jitse Groen, and Head of EMEA for Shopify Plus, Shimona Mehta to lead the way. But honestly, I’ll be waiting mostly for the next Boris and Pep Show.
