A poem of Hope by Belinda Takyi

Battles of life come after us all; we fight them and tend to disregard the pain.

We go to lengths to file our painful experiences in our forgotten memory.

But occasionally, we should perform an autopsy on them and investigate what they came to teach us.

The battery from friends, family, children, neighbours and even fellow passengers on public transport breaks us into pieces.

Career battery from your colleagues, manager, project leaders, sponsors and even business partners leaves us with bruises and cuts.

Bruises of the mind and soul, bruises everywhere, wounded roundabout

Oh, and the anomalies of life, such as battling chronic diseases, cancer or experiencing trauma, can break us into shreds

You look at yourself; all you see is a broken body, mind and soul.

There comes a time we undertake ventures with hope and aspiration that we are on our way to where we should be.
Then everything falls flat on our faces, for no fault of ours.

This is where we become walking wounded and victims of life’s assault.
