David Recovered All

Once upon a time, as all true stories go, King David and his men went off to war, leaving their wives, children and flocks at home in the desert.

Enemies descended on their area. Women and children were taken to the enemy’s town.

When King David and his men returned home, they found all of their loved ones were gone, kidnapped by the enemy.

The men wept until they had no more tears left to cry. All those that they loved were gone!

When their tears were dried up, King David went to the Lord in prayer to ask Him what to do.

David asked the Lord, “Shall I chase them? Will I catch them?”
And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them; you will recover everything that was taken from you!” I Samuel 30:8

A plan was made to raid the enemy’s territory.

David recovered all!!! I Samuel 18–19.

Exactly as the Lord said.

That is one of my favorite scriptures. God had kept the loved ones safe and they could return home!

What a miracle this was! God showed Himself strong on the Israelites’ behalf. Women and children were miraculously freed and headed home! Can you imagine the rejoicing that took place!

Something similar recently happened in Israelite towns and villages. The enemy swooped in unexpectedly, killing and taking many hostage.

Thus, we wait and watch.

The emotional trauma must be tremendous, as happened in King David’s time. Will more be released?

We don’t know but we CAN PRAY!

Lord God Almighty, YOU are the Master of the universe, please bring loved ones home to their families as you did for King David long ago.
May WE recover all!

For the full story, read I Samuel 30 in the Old Testament of the Bible.
