As the snow melts in the corners of the Amish farms, temperatures remain cold enough for coats but the Amish know there is much to be done to get ready for Spring planting.

Amish farms are spread out enough to give each family enough land to ‘work’ to meet their and their animals’ need. The large houses are usually white as are the barns and outbuldings.

It’s time to get the equipment prepared to head out to the fields once again. Please note the seat which is not warmed nor padded. There are no air-conditioned tractors doing the work in the Amish community, just these simple ‘tools’ which have been used for many years in the past.

As Spring arrives, soon the women in an Amish household will trade their dark colored dresses for lighter colors. Since laundry seems to be hung out in all kinds of weather, they are probably cheering with the onset of warmer temperatures!

All winter, the Amish farm animals have been feasting on corn. Do you think that they had enough to last? PS Just think of all of the work it took to plant the corn in springtime, then to harvest the corn in the autumn, get the corn off the husk and moved into the barn! Of course, feeding the huge work horses is no easy task either!

Just as we might put our vehicle out for sale, so do the Amish.

Do you see one you’d like to take home with you?
PS Once upon a time, I owned an Amish buggy. It was used to draw attention to yard sales held almost weekly in my yard.

The Amish were busy at a building site. The ‘parking lot’ is full.

At the end of the day, I’m sure the Amish are ready to rest and enjoy the sunset. Even the windmill is still

Thank you for joining me in my photo journey!
