No One Saw My Tears
Challenge
I challenge you to create a humorous-emotional piece of writing that strikes the perfect balance between humor and emotion, taking your readers on a journey that will make them both laugh and feel deeply. Let your creativity run wild and see where it takes you!
Thank you to Ray Day and Douglas Lim for this challenge!
Once upon a time
Tears flowed as a baby, I was HUNGRY and TIRED.Tears flowed in FEAR as I was sure there was a bear under my bed.
Tears flowed in DREAD when I went to school that first day.
Tears of JOY flowed at proms and on graduation day.
Tears of EXCITEMENT flowed as I began college.
Tears of THANKFULNESS flowed as my nurse’s cap was placed on my head.
Tears flowed with PRIDE as I landed my first job.
Tears flowed with PROMISE on my wedding day.
Tears flowed in EXALTATION as my children entered the world.
Tears of FRUSTRATION flowed when my marriage began to fall apart.
Tears of GRIEF fell as my marriage failed.
Tears of FEAR fell as I lived in the world as a single adult again.
Tears of RELIEF fell as I retired with days of freedom ahead to enJOY.
Tears flowed mixed with smiles throughout my life..
And yet…
I now cry in THANKFULNESS for every tear,
like precious jewels, I shed!I cry tears of GLADNESS for the NOW of life!
Who knew there were so many KINDS of TEARS
which can flow out of our inward being?
I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: “Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making His home with men and women! They’re His people, He’s their God. He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good — tears gone, crying gone, pain gone — all the first order of things gone.” Revelation 21:3 Msg.
