Kirthi Menon has been a recruiter for over seven years, the past four of which he’s worked for himself as a freelance recruiter. Before that, he worked at an agency.

“I chose to do freelance recruiting for two reasons,” Kirthi told us. “I wanted to work on different jobs and I wanted a steady flow of jobs. Diversity and volume were always important to me in the jobs I worked.”

In his early days as a freelance recruiter, Kirthi found himself working the same kinds of jobs that he had always been working on as an agency recruiter. He used contacts from his days as an agency recruiter to find new clients. He soon realized, however, that he wanted more out of freelance recruiting. He felt that he could do more.

Software developer, data scientist, and system administrator are some of the most in-demand and highest-paid IT positions out there. For this reason, many recruiters work exclusively in IT.

“At the agency, I specialized in IT jobs. That was the world I was in. Everyone I knew was an IT person or hiring for an IT person. So, even as a freelance recruiter, I was still an IT recruiter.”

Having just started working as an independent recruiter, Kirthi did not want to be pigeon-holed into one specialization again.

“Like all recruiters, I do this for material success. You have to pay the bills. But personal fulfillment is very important to me, as well. You simply do not set yourself up very well for either if you ignore possibilities, if you are closed-minded. If you limit yourself, as a recruiter, to a certain set of jobs.”

After hearing about the the Reflik platform from a trusted friend and colleague, Kirthi was eager to give the talent crowdsourcing platform a try.

“Honestly, I had no idea what to expect,” he said. “Talent Crowdsourcing is just such a new concept. But I was thrilled to find so many different jobs, from so many well-established, household brands. It was exactly what I was looking for as a freelance recruiter.”

Kirthi has been using Reflik for about six months, now. He has recently found Magnus Textile’s newest hire: a remote Sales Manager to work for the Chelmsford, MA-based company.

Remote sales manager positions have become increasingly more common as companies complete B2B and B2C sales online more often.

When asked what he would say to fellow recruiters who are looking for ways to find more high-impact clients and work, he paused for a second and replied: “Reflik is engaging — especially with clients like Canon and General Dynamics. If you think getting their business is difficult, imagine what filling their positions is like!”

“As a recruiter, working on the Reflik platform, you get access to job openings at amazing companies. This lets you meet top talent, but to really be successful and fill positions, you must be willing to learn. You must be adaptable and expand your possibilities.”
