I Find Strength in the Stillness of My Heart
Because there is a quiet power in stillness
I don’t know what I would do without a certain amount of stillness every day because it becomes its own quiet power that grows and nurtures my soul. Without it, I am a messy ball of anxiety. More importantly, I find strength in the stillness of my heart.
Although it seems like a luxury, is it? If it seems like something too luxurious, take a moment and think about why. I have found that this is not a luxury at all. In fact, it has become a necessity. Without daily stillness, I am a messy ball of anxiety, and who wants that?
I also understand that there are too many other distractions and demands in life that can tug and pull you in so many different directions, but taking the time to quiet your heart is not just magical but the only way I have found to tap into a reservoir of strength that I would define as a quiet, steady force that sustains me through life’s challenges.
It doesn’t have to be long stretches of time. If you carve out 5–10 minutes each day, that’s a beginning. I promise that once you do that, you will discover that strength doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it whispers softly in moments of stillness, and as much as you need a breath to keep living, this stillness becomes a well of peace that helps you sink deep.
It reassures you of your capabilities, resilience, wholeness, and love. Yes, you. You are loved. No matter what is going on around you, you are deeply loved. Without the stillness, do you think you would know that on a daily basis? I know I wouldn’t.
Let’s be clear. Embracing stillness is not about escaping life. You can if you want. You can run off to a retreat center or a cabin and live in silence, but that’s not always practical, right? Embracing stillness, instead, is about grounding yourself so you can face life with clarity and courage.
