The side less seen
There are two camps on Lesvos; Moria and Kara Tepe for Afghanis and Syrians respectively. At the moment, the Kara Tepe camp is closed and riots are breaking out — fires have been lit.
I went into Moria a day ago. Many have been there for over a week, without food, and any information on their registration. The camp itself was an old prison, but there are now holes in the barbed fences where thousands of Afghanis come in and out.
The toilet situation is the most bleak. No cleaning crews come in. Running water is limited and while there are some portable toilets — all are completely blocked.
This is symptomatic of a bottleneck. Now registrations in Mytilene have stopped. Completely. As more and more fill the town, tensions are only set to build and can only build so far before the pressure explodes outwards.

I have shared this photo in particular because I feel the need to shine a light on the shit. And yes, when the light shines in the put of snakes, they writhe.
But it is only through seeing and feeling just how bleak it is, and showing you the shit that perhaps the light can filter through….
Thank you for your ongoing support to help us make the most of a bad situation.
