Watch now, or read a recap below.

Last week, the Community Development Call led by Regen Network CTO Aaron Craelius updated the community on the validator-led testnet, web assembly, and current and upcoming events where Regen Network is taking the stage. More recently, Regen Network made a presence at Techstars Demo Day in Denver. Below, we go into a full recap to check out Regen Network’s development growth.

First, Aaron discussed how the validator-led test net will be starting soon with ChorusOne and Chainflow leading the efforts for this. This validator-led test net will be totally optional in regards to earning points. So, users will have the opportunity to participate if they wish and get practice for the next incentivized test net. **Update: this has launched!**

Aaron then updated us that the next incentivized test net will occur when the in place upgrade module is merged into the Cosmos SDK upstream. While Regen Network is close to being finished, there is still some work to be done. If you are interested, Aaron recommends staying tuned for an incentivized testnet date on our Telegram channel.

In relation to the ICF Key Management Grant, there have been more updates to the specifications for the messaging delegation and the group modules. Next, Aaron briefly discussed the ongoing work on the fee grant module. While the design of the architecture has been approved, and an implementation has been submitted for final review, it is now a matter of tidying up loose ends.

A rough presentation and early mock-up exist to demonstrate how a farmer will actually engage with Regen Network’s platform. The goal is to insulate the user experience for a non-technological savvy user of how to interact with the crypto app and have an overall natural experience.

On the web assembly side of things, Ethan Frey, our lead developer, also gave a brief update on the ICF Web Assembly Smart Contract Grant. As of now, the under the hood work is basically done. There is a working SDK to develop smart contracts and a module that integrates with any cosmos-sdk application is mostly finished, both in the CosmWasm repository. The final product will be useful to add a smart contracting language and runtime to any Cosmos-SDK based application for anyone in the ecosystem that is interested. After fixing some smaller issues, Regen Network will submit this to Cosmos. This was submitted Nov. 1 to ICF for review, and feedback on future direction.

Ethan also gave the audience a rundown of how CosmWasm can be used. Currently, a template exists to quickly start building a contract for users to try. If you are interested in contract building examples or CosmWasm in general, contact Ethan on Telegram. For more information on the implementation details or surrounding tooling, check GitHub or reach out to Ethan on Telegram.

To end the call, Gregory also reminded that Regen Network presented at the San Francisco Blockchain Week and participated in the DeFi Hackathon. The team is super excited to be hacking and have a lot of fun ideas for the future.

If you want to keep up with the community development team’s progress, tune in to the next meeting on Wednesday, November 13!
