With over 4 billion active internet users worldwide, you’d think that blogging would essentially become obsolete due to excessive supply. Anyone can do it, so why would it hold value, right?

In the age of online abundance and excessive content, people and brands alike still need to find their voice and identify their purpose amidst the noise. And as the world grows ever-louder, shutting out the clamor is only becoming more challenging.

But as the internet continues to transform the way we connect and share information, blogging remains as one of the best ways to drive traffic, convert consumers, and — most importantly of all — be ourselves.

Below are three primary reasons that blogging still matters and will continue to matter, to both people and brands as we barrel toward the year 2022— but first, a couple of staggering statistics about blogging based on an SEMrush article from earlier this year:

  • There are over 31 million bloggers in the United States alone.
  • 1/3 of all webpages that exist are blogs.
  • The average time spent reading an article is about 37 seconds.
