My friend Oli and his pal Paul have set up a Meetup in Bristol called Finding Purpose and it sounds like it’s gonna be great. You can check it out here — it feels like there could well be some overlap with Reinventing Work: Bristol. Oli and Paul describe Finding Purpose as:
a community of learners who meet to explore big questions at the root of how we live: What does it mean to live well? How can we find joy in a chaotic and unpredictable world? How do we live with purpose?
Me and Oli just had a really good chat which included a good dig around some of my favourite sources for stuff on purpose. Below is what we found — I hope you find them useful.
- This is a wonderful talk from Margaret Wheatley at Meaning Conference that touches on “finding your right work”:
- There are a host of other videos on purpose on the Meaning Conference website. All talks at Meaning tend to be top quality, take a look https://meaningconference.co.uk/videos/purpose. They have 18 on purpose and many more on equally interesting topics.
- And here’s an insightful talk from one of my favourite TED speakers Dan Ariely — a behavioural economist — on what makes us feel good at our work:
This is just a small selection of what’s out there. Please add more in the comments below:
