Happy New Year! We hope you had a relaxing festive season with loved ones.
As we close out REITIUM’s incredible second year, we’ve compiled an extensive review of what we achieved in 2019.
January 2019
Overview
Twenty-nineteen ended just the same as it began — with huge milestones being accomplished and much cause for celebration!
Slightly extending the holiday season, The REITIUM team traveled to Africa to partake in celebrating Co-Founder and CPO, Michael Moll’s traditional Maasai wedding in Nairobi, Kenya. Twelve Canadians joined and the pair were surrounded by Michael’s close friends and family in Africa.
While in Kenya, Co-Founders, Michael and Laura had several meetings with some prominent tech and banking players who are leveraging tech to create big change, especially in the blockchain space in East Africa. It was incredible to see firsthand the progression of this incredible cryptographic technology in a developing country and hear the possibilities it holds for the future of Africa as a whole.

Overview
The REITIUM 2019 world tour began, this time starting at home with Buildex in Vancouver. February was also the month that we would begin working with S+P, a life-changing group who would later become important players on our board of advisors and contribute largely to out continued success.

Our tech team completed the Deal Manager back office Dashboard that proved to be a game changer. Asset owners and their teams of lawyers, accountants, appraisers and marketers are able to build and manage their fundraising together.
The dashboard provides full transparency on who investors are and where they are coming from while simultaneously compiling documents in one place. This provides a systemic approach to the management of funds and investment projects.

Feb 13 — 14: Pitched, Boothed and Interviewed at the BUILDEX conference in Vancouver. BUILDEX is the largest event in Western Canada attracting 14,000+ attendees, bringing together talent from across the industry.
Feb 21: Selected as one of BDO’s the Top Ten finalists invited to pitch at the BDO VC Pitch Day. The team had the opportunity to interact with entrepreneurs and leading VCs from across the country.
Feb 21 — 24: Attended partner meeting in Hawaii. Our advisory group, S+P invited us out to Hawaii to meet with them and discuss a potential partnership opportunity.
Feb 24 — 27: Boothed at the RE/MAX R4 Convention in Las Vegas. Thousands of Real Estate agents and brokers from over 60 different countries attended this event annually.
March 2019
Overview
While looking at the best ways to enter into the American market, we came across a Broker Dealer who would like to partner with upon expansion. This is great news for us as the private equity space in the USA is quite different to Canada. By partnering, we will have access to our Broker Dealer’s legal, marketing, accounting and tax information, which will create a seamless transition for us when we expand to this desired US market, projected as early as next year.

Our tech team created waitlist deals: A short landing page available on the app and website that allows approved deals to showcase a preview of their property offerings. This allows interested investors to be the first to participate in offerings once the deals goes live.
This additional feature allows REITIUM and property owners to test the demand for properties and gain valuable market insights before committing to a full-fledged crowd investing campaign.

March 1 — 2: Pitched and Boothed at the REIN (Real Estate Investment Network) Conference in Calgary. This summit focused on creating solutions for Real Estate investing.
March 4 — 8: Keynote Presentation and Boothed at Hybrid Summit during Hong Kong Blockchain week.
Mar 11 — 13: Presented, Boothed and Interviewed at BC Tech Summit in Vancouver where REITIUM earned the title “One of BC’s Most Promising Tech Startups”. at BC Tech Summit in Vancouver.
March 28: Panel speaker at RED Academy’s Limitless Event — an interactive discussion-based workshop that aims to connect those desiring to create meaningful impact.
March 28: Panel speaker at the Vancouver Entrepreneurs Forum. VEF is hosting a Blockchain 101 panel as part of their educational seminar, for business leaders that would like to learn more about Blockchain.
March 29–31: Presented and Boothed at REIN A.C.R.E in Toronto. Led by a dynamic group of veteran real estate investors, educators and leaders, REIN provides potential investment strategies for attendees.

Overview
REITIUM gets nominated for the Startup Canada Tech Innovation Award! The sixth annual Startup Canada Awards celebrates excellence in Canadian entrepreneurship and innovation.
The team was invited to compete in various pitch competitions both locally and internationally. Participating in these competitions gave us deep understanding and insight on how to further improve the REITIUM platform and through user feedback and questionnaires, we’ve compiled suggestions on what the public is looking for.

The REITIUM Tech team was working on integrating Transact API, our Broker Dealer’s transaction and compliance workflow. This API interacts with our Hyperledger Blockchain application platform, sharing data and documents about deals, properties and investors.

April 24: Pitched and showcased our platform at the Pitch@Palace event in BC. An initiative setup by HRH, The Duke of York to support entrepreneurs by providing the best opportunities to access mentors and advisors, distribution systems and connections to investments.
April 25 — 27: Boothed at The Pacific Northwest Real Estate Wealth Expo in Seattle. Over 40 experts were hand-selected to share their immense knowledge and varied expertise in the real estate investment space.
April 26: Pitched at Women in Tech Regatta in Seattle.

As part of the redesign of the Investment Deal Page on the app, an additional feature of social proof was introduced.
Social proof displays investor profiles (optional) of their choice including their name and photo to highlight the number of investors in various deals. This helps investors assess the popularity and scarcity of deals. Those who opt to remain anonymous will have their profiles hidden automatically.
Investors can build networks and share their deals on social media to showcase to others their portfolio and investment diversity.

May 20 — 23: Boothed and Interviewed at the Collision Conference in Toronto. Alongside many of the world’s most disruptive emerging technology companies, REITIUM was joined by 25,000 employees at the fastest-growing tech conference in North America. Following the lead of their European event, Web Summit, Collision has become a crossroads for the world’s largest buyers and sellers of technology.
June 2019
Overview
In June, the team spent time in Silicon Valley and San Francisco to meet with partners and attend accelerators that would later prove to be a favourable stepping stone. It was an incredible experience to be in such close proximity to some of the biggest players of the tech industry.

The integration of DocuSign autocomplete script was conducted to mitigate errors in the completion of forms. This makes it easier for users to fill out forms (e.g. subscription agreements) as relevant information is pulled from user ID allowing for seamless completion of documents.

June 17 — 20: Twice a year, Accellerate Silicon Valley immersion program selects 10–15 women in leadership roles from small Canadian startups. Co-Founder Laura was invited to attend and connect with successful Silicon Valley investors, founders, experts and mentors.

Overview
To kickoff summer 2019, the team competed in local pitch competitions and attended local events — in preparation for the soft launch of the REITIUM App.

Overview
Inviting friends, family and past investors, we hosted a Soft Launch Party to showcase the launch of the REITIUM mobile app! An excited crowd of 100 showed up to be the first to user our app and celebrate this massive milestone.

The REITIUM App went to live in the Apple and Google Play store! During this time, users can complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process, explore the app’s functionality and browse property examples in the marketplace. The KYC process requires the upload of government issued ID and the completion of an accreditation checklist, confirming investor status.

Aug 7: Soft Launch of the REITIUM app! After 18 months of developing our propriety technology, it was exciting to witness our earliest supporters use the app for the very first time.
Aug 13 — 14: Presented, Panel Speaker, Interviewed and Boothed at Futurist Conference in Toronto — the most high profile blockchain event in Canada.
Aug 15 — 17: Advisor Retreat with the Co-Founding team in Whistler. These incredible few days included learning, iterating, expanding and taking into account some deep knowledge in the VC space in Silicon Valley. Dissecting REIT models from a Private Equity standpoint and develop a mass marketing plans from an incredibly successful luxury condo marketer.

Overview
We onboarding of our first white label client, TriView Capital! The REITIUM platform assists with the administration process, know your customer (KYC) screening and self-serve investing.
It was announced that REITIUM is one of the BC finalists for Deloitte’s technology Fast 50 competition in the Companies to Watch category.
REITIUM has been interviewed close to 100 times over the past two years. From on site interviews at conferences, to news articles, to podcasts and beyond. While its an incredible opportunity and honour to be interviewed, we decided that we also wanted the chance to feature some of the best in class in the realm of our work and create our own REITIUM Podcast, which we have named, the Real Estate for Everyone Podcast.

Overview
The start of the onboarding process of our first client Triview Capital happened this month!
We introduced the digitized investment processes to mitigate any errors and expedite administration process. Triview Capital offers investors the opportunity to invest in deals not available through mutual funds or ETFs, providing investors alternative and private investments that are not available on the public markets.

The REITIUM tech team created the Dealer Rep Sales App that processes multiple clients simultaneously.
Exempt Market Dealers work with Dealer Reps who complete most of the manual administrative work, it can take over 90 minutes to process a single customer.
Our app is fully-equipped with real-time tracking of all client activity, prevents potential errors and stays up-to-date with live deal transactions.
The automation of customer on-boarding, investment subscription and payment processes, will allow Dealer Reps to have more availability for sales, customer education and support. Thus allowing them to place their focus on their clients and not just processing paperwork. We are proud of what we’ve been able to create for our first client!

REITIUM built a cutting edge proprietary technology, EXEMPTIUM, a backend management SaaS that services the Private Securities Market, including users such as Private Issuers, Dealer Reps and Exempt Market Dealers. Providing a white label solution, EXEMPTIUM allows clients to house real-time investment data, fully compliant with securities regulations.

Nov 1 — 3: Boothed at REIN (A.C.R.E) Vancouver. As part of REIN Canada, The A.C.R.E (Authentic Canadian Real Estate) brings investors together to educate about what’s new in the real estate industry.
Nov 20: During the festive season, Co-Founders Laura and Michael attended the annual CSE Client appreciation party — Celebrating the accomplishments of various companies and ventures.
Nov 21: IBM Partner Workshop. As part of our partnership with IBM, two of our assigned consultants from California flew up specifically to host a workshop for the REITIUM team that focused on technology, marketing and customer journey.

Overview
After three months of development, REITIUM presented our customized platform for Exempt Market Dealers and Issuers to TriView Capital’s top twelve reps and the operations team in Calgary.
TriView Capital has committed to running $10M+ worth of investment sales through our platform, with a focus on using RRSPs for investments such as real estate.
