2018 in Review—Rekd Yearly
Today marks two years of Rekd having come into existence. With two years in the rearview mirror, I could not be more proud reflecting upon how much the team has grown, the partnerships we have made, and how our product has evolved with time.
This past year we not only continued to build on the recommendation features that we built early on but we moved our product forward based off of what our users were asking for with features such as our new Explore feed, our picture reactions, and chatter. We’ve made it easier for members of our community to find content that they want to consume, we launched our Friends of Rekd partnership program with some amazing youtube content creators, and we’ve made it easier for members of our community to interact and have more fun with each other. All of this has led to a huge uptick to the number of members in our community.
This truly has been an amazing year and looking forward at what we are planning for the rest of the year, I am sure we will continue to grow at an increasingly rapid pace. The rate at which we consume video content, the number of streaming options that people now have, and the way that people are moving towards more focused niche communities all lend themselves to the product that we are building for our users. This next year will see us continue to build on our partnerships and give users even more fun ways to immerse themselves in the worlds of fantasy that they enjoy through Rekd.
It is a sheer and utter joy to be a part of the team building this social experience around movies and tv shows. America has already reached peak consumption in terms of the numbers of hours of content that we can consume per day so instead of just spamming people with more content that they will passively watch, let’s keep focusing on making the experience of watching a movie or a show more immersive and fun. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of the Rekd journey so far whether you are a member of our community, a member of our team, or a member of our amazing list of partners. Let’s make this the year where the entire world Gets Rekd!
