The creator economy movement hinges on various Web3 tools that are helping content creators take control of their work and monetize fairly from it. This is part two of an article rounding up some of the most prominent tools, at present, that creators can utilize.

Community-building

Communities are at the heart of what most creators are aiming to build, more significantly so with the creator economy movement. We tend to become friends with people who share similar interests as us. Community building harnesses this and builds a large circle of people who share similar interests by virtue of following a certain type of content. Community building allows creators to build deeper relationships with their audience and enables meaningful interaction within their audience. For the creator, it provides channels for feedback, content ideas and more. Content consumers enjoy being part of communities and feeling a sense of belonging. This is another aspect creator tools can address effectively.

Here are some popular community-building tools:

Discord

Discord has perhaps set the standard for what collaborative community building could look like. Interestingly, being on Discord itself enrolls you into a community of its ardent believers.

Discord allows you to set up servers that users can join and communicate with each other in channels that try to direct and categorize conversations. Channels can be set up with live audio chat, music radios and more. Creators often use Discord servers or exclusive channels as rewards for fans that support them on their preferred monetization tool.

Circle

Circle is similar to Discord, as it allows you to build channels for different communication and is easy for users to navigate. However, they are known to have a simpler, neater setup and do not offer any audio chat facilities. Circles can also be accessed only by membership that users have to pay for.

Clubhouse

Clubhouse is an audio chat service that allows you to drop into conversations, speak or just listen. Clubhouse has various rooms that discuss different topics, and users can join based on their interests. Owing to its audio features, Clubhouse tends to have a very personal touch. It is meant to emulate being in a room to chat with people who share the same interests as you.

Releap App

The Releap App allows users to freely share their content and build their communities on a decentralized social graph. Users can also create Campaigns to reward communities for performing specified activities. These campaigns are highly customizable and easy to set up as a way to grow and engage their audience.

Digital Selling

Digital Selling is a branch of monetization, but the content being monetized varies. Digital selling, as the name suggests, involves selling of digital goods such as e-books, software, photos and more. Digital Selling tools works as the platform that facilitates this. For example, they generate license codes for software so that users cannot access the software until they purchase it. It allows creators to sell their creation without the backing of major publishers or other middlemen. These tools help creators control the selling of their work and it opens up more avenues for being a creator. You could create content and supplement it with digital selling or you could do away with capturing an audience and focus on your strengths.

Some digital selling tools to check out:

Gumroad

Gumroad helps you sell your digital goods. It is free to get started and Gumroad charges you a percentage fee when you make a sale. This percentage decreases as your sales volume increases. Significantly, Gumroad helps users set up workflows where they can automate newsletter to their buyers, follow-up with customers and more. Gumroad is easy to use and offers a premium plan with more features.

SendOwl

SendOwl functions similarly to Gumroad and it allows users to sell a range of digital goods very easily. SendOwl is integrated with many payment platforms that manage payment making it more accessible for buyers. Their integration with Shopify is also very comprehensive, in case users wish to set up a website.

Bandcamp

Bandcamp is a service that helps with digital selling but focuses on the music industry. It helps independent artists and record labels to sell songs, vinyl records, merchandise and more. It is easy to use and customizable, however, the website design choice is limited.
