Like all Digital teams, we use a number of tools to track web visitors and monitor user behaviour. We recently used one of those tools — Hotjar — to take a poll to help us understand how visitors are engaging with our new responsive website.

We asked two quick questions:

• Did you find what you were looking for?
• What were you looking for?

We received 5,261 responses to our poll, and out of that number 78% said yes, they found what they were looking for.

The second question on what exactly they were looking for was open-ended, and here are the top seven most frequently used words in the responses we received:

• War
• Information
• Air Shows
• Tickets
• Prices
• Times
• WW1

This word cloud shows the rest of the responses.

So, what does this tell us? It confirms what our Google Analytics data tells us — the majority of users come to our website to find out something about visiting. The next step is to analyse all the data from the 20% that didn’t find what they were looking for and see if there are any patterns, so we can come up with solutions. We’ll post our findings soon.
