Offering $20 unlimited ride wristbands and free carousel rides all day

ALBANY, NY (July 25, 2024) — Huck Finn’s Playland in Albany’s Warehouse District, will celebrate its historic 1952 Allan Herschell Carousel on National Carousel Day with free carousel rides, and a $20 Unlimited Ride Special for the rest of the park’s rides. The special happens on Thursday, July 25, and the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We wanted to celebrate our special treasure, with its 30 hand-painted galloping horses and two chariots,” said Joseph Masher, park owner and operator. “Adults who purchase wristbands for their children on Thursday will get free rides on our carousel,” he added.

National Carousel Day is celebrated annually on July 25. Carousels first became popular in the early 18th century in Europe, though the golden age of the merry-go-round in the USA did not happen until the early 20th century. The ride at Huck Finn’s Playland was built and installed in 1952 at Hoffman’s Playland in Latham. It moved to its present location when the park was relocated for the 2015 season. Except for the 2020 season shutdown (due to the pandemic), the Huck Finn’s Playland carousel has operated continuously.

“Our merry-go-round has delighted generations of area residents, with its 30 galloping horses and two chariots,” said Masher.
