Nine Pin’s Meet the Champions event aims to bring the public closer to the stars of the Aurora Games

ALBANY, N.Y. (Aug. 16, 2019) — Nine Pin Ciderworks, New York’s first farm cidery, has announced a meet and greet event with champion athletes in conjunction with the Aurora Games.

Designed to celebrate the best in women’s sports, entertainment and culture, the inaugural Aurora Games will welcome all-star athletes, as well as coaches and trainers representing more than 15 countries to downtown Albany to compete in an international competition of teams comprised of the Americas vs. the World.

Set for Aug. 20 through 25, 2019, the six-day event will include team and individual competitions in basketball, tennis, figure skating, gymnastics, ice hockey and beach volleyball.

A Meet the Champions evening will be held at Nine Pin’s Cidery and tasting room in Albany’s Warehouse District on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The evening will feature figure skating Olympic medalist and icon Nancy Kerrigan, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame player, Michele Timms, and former UConn Women’s Basketball standout and two-time NCAA Champion, Barbara Turner.

These world class champions will be available in the tasting room to answer questions, sign autographs, and take pictures with fans.

“Nine Pin is proud to bring these incredible and barrier-breaking athletes to the Cidery,” said Alejandro del Peral, co-founder and cider maker. “We’re excited to work with the Aurora Games and to give fans and cider lovers the opportunity to meet with these sports icons.”

Event admission is free to the general public, and the first fifty people to buy a Nine Pin cider at the event will receive one free ticket to The Aurora Games basketball competition on Thursday evening, Aug. 22, at Albany’s Times Union Center.
