GUILDERLAND CENTER, N.Y. (Feb. 18, 2020) — Remarkable Liquids, New York State’s premier craft beverage distributor, has launched the second year of their Be Remarkable Clothing Drive; a region-wide collaboration between more than 40 establishments in New York’s Capital Region and Hudson Valley regions.

The clothing drive, now in its second year, sets out to benefit those less fortunate during the winter season, encouraging patrons to frequent participating beverage producers and restaurants at each of the 40 locations that are part of the drive. Patrons will be able to donate clothes ranging from — sweatshirts, sweatpants, coats, shoes, and men’s clothing. Each location will have a Be Remarkable box where patrons can drop off their donations which will then be allocated to Capital City Rescue Mission, the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH), Darmstadt Shelter, and Family of Woodstock.

Following an immensely successful first year with nearly two tons of clothing donated to local shelters, Remarkable Liquids is expanding their efforts to the Hudson Valley in hopes to benefit more of the state.

Donation boxes can be found at the following locations in the Capital Region: Nine Pin Cider, Westmere Beverage, Oliver’s Beverage, Delmar Beverage, O’Slattery’s Pub, Lost & Found, Albany Ale & Oyster, Tipsy Moose — Albany, Tipsy Moose — Latham, Ship’s Pub, City Beer Hall, Olde English, City Line, Junior’s — Albany, Lax on Lark, The Poke Bar, The Ruck, Junior’s — East Greenbush, Purple Pub — Watervliet, Center Street Pub, Backstage Pub, Glenville Beverage, The Horses Lounge, Henry Street Tap Room, Brunswick BBQ & Brew, and East Branch Organics.

“Last year was a whirlwind for us, we went from concept to execution to having mountains of clothing in a matter of weeks,” said Spencer Noakes, general manager of Remarkable Liquids. “It was incredible seeing how eager the Capital Region was to clean out their closets to benefit those less fortunate, and now going into the second year we hope we can rally that same desire to do something remarkable in the Hudson Valley. With a year of experience, more boxes, and a lot more confidence in this crazy idea; we’re excited to see how much more we can do in 2020.”

“Having such energetic and compassionate partners in our community is incredibly helpful to our nonprofit. IPH, formerly Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless serves over 2200 people each year who are facing or experiencing homelessness. We are able to make a difference in these lives because of the support that we receive from businesses such as Remarkable Liquids. Their team has given us tremendous momentum as we help our guests take steps toward self-sufficiency,” said Bonnie St. Onge, director of development, IPH.

“Whether it’s our schools, whether it’s because there’s been a devastating fire, whether it’s because we need to ensure that people who are suffering from homelessness are taken care of — it’s our local businesses that are there for us time in and time out. Not only did Remarkable Liquids decide to ask the questions of who’s in need and who needs help, but they used their network of businesses they work with and created an opportunity to help places like IPH and Schenectady City Mission to have access to clothes at a time of year that it’s truly needed,” said Albany Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan.

“Thank you to Remarkable Liquids for seeing a need that had to be addressed, while bringing the whole community and the patrons of your businesses together to help address the crisis that is homelessness,” said Assemblymember Patricia A. Fahy. “It’s great to see this initiative return, and it’s better to see the boxes filling up again.”

“Make your family happy, clean out your closets, clean out your kid’s closets. There’s a great need for everything from men’s jeans to kids clothing and jackets, and this will put yours and your kid’s unused clothing to great use,” said Darius Shahinfar, Albany city treasurer. “Use this time of year to keep the giving spirit alive and take advantage of the convenience Remarkable Liquids is providing by making donating so accessible.”

“Remarkable Liquids and Nine Pin continue to define what it means to be a community oriented business, leading by example with their second Be Remarkable Clothing Drive,” said Georgette Steffens, executive director of the Albany Business Improvement District. “They have made it a priority to give back to the city where they experienced incredible local support and wild growth. The Downtown Albany BID is proud to participate as a drop off location.”
