Fundraising efforts aim to “clear the list” for educators fronting the cost of classroom school supplies

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 1, 2021) — Two Buttons Deep (“2BD”) is bringing back their “Big Tip Energy” campaign, this time crowdfunding for local teachers burdened with supplying out-of-pocket school supplies to fill their classrooms this fall.

The effort, “Big Tip Energy: Back to School Edition,” launched officially this past Monday, has already raised over $1,000 in donations and received over 100 submissions from teachers hoping to be selected so their cost of supplies can be covered.

“As a first year teacher, I keep realizing how many items my classroom doesn’t have just yet,” said one local teacher’s entry. “This donation would mean I’m able to have the things we need in my room such as calculators, lab supplies and history material — and that would be a huge burden off my shoulders.”

Earlier in 2021, 2BD’s initial debut of “Big Tip Energy” aimed to support struggling local restaurants during the pandemic, and raised just under $25,000 in 12 weeks, with 100 percent of the funds supporting restaurant owners and staff.

To follow along with “Big Tip Energy,” visit @TwoButtonsDeep on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Donations of any dollar amount are being collected via Venmo (@TwoButtonsDeep) until September 6, and all funds raised will go directly to the local educators selected. Teachers can enter their submissions at twobuttonsdeep.com/backtoschool, including their Amazon Wish List of supplies.
