One of the coaches responsible for the Seattle Seahawks’ strong defense is leaving his role to become a minister according to a report by the Seattle Times.

Jesus is better than anything … even better than the Super Bowl, better than an NFL career, any of that.”

— Rocky Seto

Rocky Seto, 42, has been at head coach Pete Carroll’s side since Carroll’s first year at USC in 2001.

He joined his mentor in Seattle in 2010.

“Rocky has been most integral … He is the one that does all of the teaching [of] it in the meetings,” Carroll told ESPN, and the network noted that among Soto’s “responsibilities over the years was the implementation of the Seahawks’ rugby-style tackling.”

Seto was named assistant head coach/defense in 2015 after Kris Richard took over as defensive coordinator.

Pastor Mark Driscoll interviews members of the Seattle Seahawks.

Seto told Pastor Mark Driscoll in a 2014 interview: “We all need Jesus. Jesus is everything. Jesus owns me. Literally, Jesus is the greatest treasure in the universe. It just makes sense. It’s not like you give up your life and then you get something worse.”

“He gave us everything. We had nothing, he gave us everything, so literally it’s just one plus one equals two, it’s that simple. Jesus is better than anything … even better than the Super Bowl, better than an NFL career, any of that.”
