Remdev Studio. Jumping into 2022

New year, new page.
You shouldn’t live the same year 75 times over and call it a life

And we won’t either.

Last year was both tough and exciting. I recently wrote a post about 2021’s results, which you can find here.

Heading into 2022 brings with it a lot of excitement (and a little anxiousness, haha) because we are facing this new year with a fresh outlook, clear perspective, and ambitious goals.

Vision

At the end of 2021, I traveled to Sweden, where I participated in the Norrsken Impact Hub and met many health entrepreneurs. This experience opened my eyes to the problems facing the Digital Health market and helped me clarify the vision for Remdev. I personally always had this deep down inside, but was finally able to communicate it properly:

Everyone has dark days when they feel alone, lost and buried. And the most powerful thing that helps us move forward is hope. And we want to become a hope for those who need it most. We make people believe in Digital Health innovations.

Some of you may notice references to the Spider-Man movie 😅
But this is what resonates with us.

But why Digital Health?

We feel deep down that it’s the right thing to do. Personally, I think that with such excellent talent and passion, the company should contribute to creating innovations in this fast-growing market.

Secondly, the market is growing in huge volumes. There are many formidable challenges to solve and a lot of people to help. The deeper we delve into Digital Health, the more exciting the challenges become. By working with such challenges, we’re seeing a direct impact from our side, and we love it.

Heading into 2022

Thanks to our vision and understanding of the company’s future, we have established clear goals that will help our company grow and progress to the next level.

Make an impact and learn
This year we will focus on helping innovative health-tech, med-tech and biotech companies create SAMD and wellness products that directly help people. In parallel, we will be broadening our internal medical expertise and settling the foundation for our own products.

Build a culture and improve collaboration
Because we believe that shared values and goals are the best way to find like-minded partners and teammates, we will focus on making our company as transparent as possible. We want to show that anyone has a direct impact on the company's future and we are all in the same boat. This will help us build the kind of culture that makes our company lovable.

Create tangible proof
Last but not least, we will continue to improve our internal processes and product quality to ensure our brand is not just fancy words, but tangible proof of our purpose and vision.

Distribution and Public Relations

We’re changing our focus from Health & Fitness to Digital Health, which means diving deeper into health and looking for more advanced challenges. Our distribution and PR will primarily focus on building expertise in Digital Health, improving the team’s market competency, and enhancing some core sales processes.

Distribution and PR — Goals for 2022

New brand

One of the core goals for Q1 will be to create a new brand and communicate our vision, not only to our partners but also to our team. We believe that shared goals and direction are what unite people and help us do amazing things together.

Diving deeper into Digital Health

Because we are working with SAMD and wellness products, we need to create more trust with our partners. Research, collaboration with medical partners, and certifications will help us do that.

Sales efficiency

We have some major sales challenges that are not allowing us to scale. Sales leadership and communication have become huge roadblocks for us. We are striving to address all of these issues.

Another big development is the “Remdev Playbook” that will enhance our transparency. This will help everyone understand our “guts” and identify alignments even without first-time interactions.

Communication and HR

Internal communication and culture are always the most important puzzle pieces in creating a company that is capable of achieving its goals. This new year is dedicated to creating an amazingly talented team that communicates efficiently, feels motivated by each other and relates to the company’s values.

Communication and HR — Goals for 2022

Internal communications

Transparency is key. We want to make decisions, communication and roles in the company as transparent as possible. We believe that by creating internal transparency, we will be more efficient, less stressed and able to solve difficult challenges faster and in a more creative way.

Communication and HR — Programs for Q1 (organization communication)

Team of talents

To create an outstanding team with shared values and respect for each other, we need to work on communicating our values throughout the new brand and creating an attractive company image for candidates. Because we’re operating in a tough and overcrowded service market, we need to communicate our vision and approach properly to create the right impression in peoples’ minds. Hiring and probation processes also need to be improved so that we have a good filter for recruiting the best people to join the team.

Just a little bit of fun

We want to build a corporate culture where people will motivate each other by doing amazing and valuable things together. That’s why we need to add a little fun to what we’re doing here. Introduction of recognition system and internal activities will bring a bit of fun into day-to-day work.

Communication and HR — Programs for Q1 (corporate culture)

Personal development

To stay motivated, we also need to grow as individuals and see the changes in ourselves, in the impact of our work and in others. Professional development plans and proper performance management will help us achieve our personal goals and become more competent at the things we do.

Design

Right now with really talented people on board, we believe we can create more efficient design teams and processes. This year we will focus on adapting our design to the Digital Health market.

Design — Goals for 2022

Remote design sprints

To validate our ideas and solutions to problems much faster, we are introducing remote design sprints into our process. By rebuilding our research phase, we can dive deeper into the problems and change what it is we think we’re trying to solve.

Software Engineering

One of the main focuses in engineering for the upcoming year is to work on internal technology that will help us collaborate more efficiently with our partners and shorten our time to market without losing quality.

Software Engineering — Goals for 2022

Creative development

We like to think of ourselves as creative developers rather than mere implementers and enablers of other peoples’ creative vision. That may sound abstract, but ultimately it boils down to each of us wanting to take personal responsibility for maximizing the quality of everything the user touches. To maximize our time invested in creative engineering, we will focus on enforcing our standards across the organization and automation of certain routine workflows.

Software Engineering — Programs for Q1 (creative software engineering)

Decrease time to market

As mentioned previously, in our service model, we are focusing on creating internal technology to improve our time to market and eliminate similar tasks. As part of the technology, we plan to create a foundation for our own platform that will enable Digital Health companies to accelerate the introduction of new products in no time at all.

Software Engineering — Programs for Q1 (internal technology)

Effective teams

As we grow, it’s important to pay attention to the commercial part of the business. To be a world-class product partner, we need to help our team grow financially as well. For us to have financial success, we need to increase our revenue and improve spending efficiency. To do that, we will focus on optimizing our teams and introducing a research and development team.

Software Engineering — Programs for Q1 (effective teams)

Project lifecycle

Last but not least, we’ve done a pretty good job in building and automating our project management workflows. But as we see even now, with new amazing people on board, we have the capacity to grow in this area.

Qualification

The whole QA process was pretty painful for us last year. A lot of testing was done by designers, developers, whoever. Even when QAs were hired, we still faced problems with having a proper product qualification process. So this year, we will invest in creating new QA processes and mechanisms that will ensure developers and designers waste less time and that our products will be more aligned with certain standards that we can easily substantiate.

Qualification — Goals for 2022

Design qualification

To be able to produce all our designs with the same quality at scale, we need to work more closely on our product design standards and processes that will help us follow these standards.

Qualification — Programs for Q1 (design qualification)

We are excited about what the new year will bring us and ready to face the future. I’m sure the year will be full of events. We will experience ups and downs, make good and bad decisions, feel happy and depressed. But we will be together, as a team, a team who will help people to get hope when they need it most.
