Remix Release v0.59.0
The Big News
- Fork and delete the VM’s state
- Syntax highlighting for Noir files
Fork and Delete VM State
One of the updates in 2024 was saving the state of Remix’s in-browser simulated blockchain — AKA the RemixVM. That update lets users refresh the browser while maintaining the state of the VM and to share the VM’s state. We also added forking other chains into the VM.
In this release, you can now delete the state of the VM — which will then give you a clean slate.
And now, you can now fork state of the current VM.
Going between forks is done in the Environment select box.
When forking, you can name it — as I did in the a_Most_Fabulous fork above.
Syntax highlighting for Noir(.nr) files
In advance of the arrival of the Noir compiler, Noir files (.nr) will have syntax highlighting in the editor. The Noir compiler is coming very soon!

Zero to Dapp Workshop
This workshop presents the concept and the learnings from a workshop format called Zero to Dapp. It’s a great way to get coders up to speed before a hackathon. The presenters at these workshops are representatives from different projects, and build upon each others’ technology and code examples.
This workshop was presented with Abena Asante, the founder of Zero to Dapp, and Simon Emanuel Schmid, DevRel at The Graph. Typically these workshops take two or three days but this mini one at Devcon was 90 minutes long.
