At Remix, we work with transit planners across the globe and believe one of the most valuable things we do is foster connections amongst our customers. We’ve observed that our customers often face similar challenges. When connected, they find creative ways to tackle their common planning problems and save time and energy by sharing best practices.

One of the first Remix Regional Workshops held in our San Francisco office.

What we learned last year

In 2017, we hosted a series of Remix Regional workshops with a focus on hands-on Remix training and sharing transit planning best practices. These workshops were regionally focused so we could convene individuals who had similar challenges and would be incentivized to stay connected.

The transit planning sessions were focused on attendee-generated topics and often led to in-depth discussions and sharing amongst the group. Later in the day we hold a “service planning design challenge” to combine the applied Remix training with the other planning concepts picked-up throughout the day.

Results from the Transit design challenge: Design a transit network in Central California to minimize the trip length for common journeys.

At the end of each event, we wanted to hear what people thought — we learned a lot!

  • Our event was the first formal time many of the planners in the region had the opportunity to connect
  • In many state transit associations, transit planning is often not a separate committee → meaning those topics have less visibility in the conference program.
  • The emphasis on networking and small group discussions was unique and important for sharing best practices

The 2018 Regional Workshop Calendar

In 2018, we’re planning on expanding our Regional Workshop program and have started to assemble our list of events. So far, we have held or will hold events in Texas, California, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. We host these events as a way to ensure our customers can be successful using Remix. But further, we believe that cultivating the art and science of transit planning, and providing space to discuss is equally important.

If your agency is interested in hosting a Regional Workshop in 2018 or have further thoughts on great topics to discuss, please let us know! To stay up to date on all of our Remix customer events be sure to check out our Events Page.
