Jen Lehmann at MVTA exported service equity analysis data for their new express route in just 5 clicks.

A New Express Route for Minnesota’s 2nd-Largest Agency

It was a dream come true for the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority in Burnsville, MN: a new express line between two important suburban areas in the Greater Minneapolis area. On one end was Shakopee, a suburban jobs center with employers like Amazon and Mystic Lake Casino; on the other was the Mall of America, one of the largest transit centers in metro Minneapolis.

When MVTA was awarded a state appropriation to fund a one-year pilot of the suburb-to-suburb express line, Route 495 was born.

MVTA Planning Manager Jen Lehmann and the team knew they had to get it right. The goal was to integrate with the existing fleet and facilities, coordinate with local employers, and complement existing service. It was truly a concerted planning effort, with Amazon and Mystic Lake even supplanting their private employee transit lines with the new Mall of America-Shakopee Express.

MVTA used Remix to design their Route 495 suburb-to-suburb express line.

Exporting Service Equity Data with 5 Clicks

In our most recent webinar, Lehmann walks through how the MVTA team went about designing Route 495 — and how they tackled the associated Title VI service equity analysis in a single afternoon.
