Last week, Andy Metz and I hosted a webinar sharing our latest features in Remix Scheduling. Transit scheduling is often viewed as an opaque, time-consuming, and complicated process that is often as hard to explain as it is to do. Our goal at Remix has been to make scheduling accessible and digestible to a wider audience.

Over the last three months, we’ve unleashed several features, large and small, to make Remix Scheduling a more fluid, flexible, and easy to use product that will allow users to generate a bid with the speed and efficiency to allow an agency’s service plans to become service realities. During this webinar we covered some of our most exciting updates.

Blocking: Easily Block Trips, Interline Routes, and Modify Deadheads

We covered a host of new features in our blocking interface that will help make the vehicle blocking process faster, easier, and more flexible for our customers. Among the new features:

  • A more fluid trip selection process that allows the user to easily select individual trips, vehicle blocks, all trips from a route, and a specific group of trips.
  • Smarter interlining that can connect routes that use the same or different stops.
  • The ability to modify deadhead durations and distances for different times of day and day types.
  • The duplication of a vehicle blocking from one weekday to a different weekday that has similar service.

Runcutting: Runcut Explorer Breaking New Ground

The runcutting process has been improved dramatically with the addition of Runcut Explorer, which takes full advantage of Remix as cloud-based software. The updated features include:

  • The capacity to produce and review multiple runcuts at the same time, so the user can view the trade-offs between different runcuts and decide what is important to their agency.
  • The ability to add a last-minute trip into a runcut that already exists.
  • The duplication of a runcut from one weekday to a different weekday that has similar service.
  • Parameters that are easy to understand and change.

Rostering: Flexibly Creating an Operator’s Work Week to Meet Your Agency’s Needs

Rostering in Remix has an emphasis on versatility and ease of use. Each agency may have different needs and preferences when putting together a week of work for its operators, and our goal is to make sure those preferences are met. Below are the features that will allow you to generate multiple options with more detail:

  • Preference sliders that allow an agency to take into account the most critical elements of a roster.
  • The ability to move and swap runs from one roster to another to customize a week of work to the agency’s preferences.
  • Roster locking to save the ideal roster for high-seniority operators or part-time operators while optimizing the remaining work.
