Members of our team are just back from the Ethereum Community Conference in Paris, and they’ve got good things to report. We learned a lot, networked a lot and talked a lot about REMME, blockchain scaling, decentralization and other matters that are close to our heart. EthCC was a great success, and the excitement within the conference hall was palpable. Over 650 attendees and 130 speakers from all over the world converged to discuss four major topics: Scalability, Anonymity, Development Tools, and Governance.

This latter topic was tackled by Bob Summerwill on Thursday in his address, in which the Ethereum community manager urged an end to “tribalism” in favor of a renewed spirit of cooperation. Ethereum developer Vlad Zamfir also weighed in, speaking of the “coordinance problem” that governance needs to resolve.

During the conference, we managed to get a chat with Vitalik Buterin. Alex, our CEO, told Vitalik that the idea behind REMME was inspired much by his personal experience, and that he had been an Ethereum crowdsale participant. Some time after participating in the crowdsale, by which time the value of ETH had significantly increased, Alex realized that he couldn’t remember the wallet’s password. After a few days of brainstorming and attempting to hack himself, Alex was finally able to guess the password, much to his relief! And thus REMME was born.

In addition, Alex met with the Nicolas Bacca, CTO at Ledger. While discussing respective projects, we agreed to look into the possibility of integrating Ledger devices as an option for second factor in REMME authentication DApps. We’ve got a lot of respect for what Ledger are doing, and would love to make this happen.

While we were in Paris at EthCC it was also nice to talk to our Telegram community member Enée who is working on a book about cryptocurrencies and is going to talk about his participation in the REMME token sale. Can’t wait for it!

The next stop on the roller-coaster that is conference life this month will be in Hong Kong at TOKEN2049. If you’re planning to attend, come and meet us!
