Gamaya, a Swiss crop intelligence AgTech startup, has appointed MATHIEU HAGEN as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2020. He takes over reins of the company from its founding CEO Dr. Yosef Akhtman, who will continue focusing on building out the company’s data science capabilities, securing technical partnerships and expanding its IP as Chief Scientist.

The newly-appointed CEO is set to lead Gamaya through the next phase of its growth; commercializing its technology and becoming a key contributor to sustainable agriculture and improving the efficiency of crop production worldwide.

“I am excited by the opportunity to build on the great foundation and momentum achieved by the Gamaya team and lead the company through the next stage of its strategic development,” said Mathieu.

Mathieu Hagen is an entrepreneurial business leader with over 20 years of experience in multiple industries across Europe, the USA and the ‘BRICS’ countries. He holds an MSc degree in Micro-technics and Opto-electronics from EPFL, an eMBA foundation program from IMD and an MSc degree in geostrategy from CEDS. Prior to joining Gamaya, Mathieu ran his own management consulting firm focusing on operational transformation, business development and strategy execution for multinational companies. In addition, over the past ten years, he has been actively involved in startup coaching (at EPFL, CTI, BAS, Capital Proximité) by supporting founders with his deep business knowledge.

“Mathieu’s strategic leadership, operational excellence expertise and passion for innovation will be great assets to us as we grow in the coming years,” said Rob Neill, Chairman of the Board.
