Gamaya is proud to announce the appointment of Ricardo Bendzius, a former executive at RiceTec and Monsanto, as Head of Brazil, establishing a direct presence in Brazil to manage growing activities in the region.

The company launched its commercial activities in sugarcane and tobacco in Brazil in 2018 and intend to grow its activities in other crops, including soybean and corn. The appointment of Ricardo Bendzius demonstrates the commitment of the company for the region and will help to provide for always better services and closer support to our local clients and partners.

Ricardo Bendzius is an Agronomist from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (USP-ESALQ). He has substantial agribusiness experience, supported by an MBA degree from the University of Pittsburg. Ricardo started his career at Monsanto and worked in several roles from marketing to product development related to Seeds, Biotech and Chemicals portfolio. In 2000 he moved to the pharmaceutical segment and for 10 years emerged in the healthcare industry at Pfizer, Bristol, and Aché Laboratories as Business development lead and M&A expert.

In 2008, Ricardo went back to Monsanto as a General Director of Cotton joint venture and as Commercial Lead for their Crop Protection division in Brazil and Latin America South. In 2011 he took on the position of CEO of RiceTec in South America, a global company specialized in hybrid rice with operations in Americas and Asia, where he led the business for 7 years until taking this new position at Gamaya.

Gamaya, founded in 2015, is a leading full-service remote sensing company that develops agronomic intelligence solutions leveraging unique hyperspectral capabilities to address crop and region-specific issues to increase the efficiency and sustainability of farming businesses.

Gamaya helps farming businesses to use fertilizers, chemicals and field workforce more efficiently; improve the quality and quantity of their production; minimize the impact on the environment; as well as reduce multiple risks. Gamaya uses a combination of patented drone-based hyperspectral imaging data and satellite imagery, along with the corresponding historical climate and weather records to provide tailored crop-specific solutions. The current product portfolio includes planting efficiency, nutrition efficiency, and high value-added solutions for various crops such as sugarcane and tobacco with a rich pipeline for the coming years.
