There is an ongoing debate about the industrial vs sustainable farming or industrial vs family or local farming. What’s about sustainable industrial farming? How can we achieve sustainable and symbiotic industrial farming vs parasitic one, that is driven by oil, continuous expansion and utilization of arable land, and even depletion of the land? We have the answer!

Industrial farming is characterized by a large scale, thousands of hectares of arable land, export orientation and high operational complexity. However, the efficiency and yield of industrial farming is far from the yield of small or mid-size farmers mainly due to the lack of knowledge about the farmland and ability to quickly and precisely react upon different farming issues, such as diseases, pests, weeds and etc.

We at Gamaya, AgTech driven company, equip these industrial agricultural businesses with a complete situational awareness about what’s going with their fields on a large scale to grow the food smarter. It’s possible due to the access to our novel hyperspectral imaging technology, that is utilized by Gamaya to address various farming issues. Once these industrial growers are equipped with Gamaya analytics about their farmland, they can substantially increase their production efficiency and profit margin, by reducing disease and weed-related losses, decreasing usage of fertilizers and chemicals, and improving the quality of their produce.

Take a sugarcane industry as an example of the business, mainly consolidated by large industrial growers and that provides biodiesel and sugar as output. Because of the low production efficiency and small profit margin industrial sugarcane producers can’t replace the oil in their production process, as the oil is still cheaper than biodiesel. But having a knowledge about the farmland on a large scale they can grow the food smarter and increase efficiency, which in turn makes them able to completely replace oil as an input of agricultural production. By decreasing usage of oil and other agrochemical inputs, such as chemicals and fertilizers, Gamaya directly contributes to the sustainability of industrial farming, making the concept of sustainable and carbon-neutral industrial agriculture a reality.

The video about Gamaya and how to make industrial agriculture carbon-negative and sustainable is provided below
