From ancient times, shamans, medicine men, seers, saints, and yogis have described abilities to mentally, distantly perceive and experience places, things, living beings, and events of all kinds. During the Cold War, the U.S. government gave it a shot, funding a psychic skunkworks in California and a military cadre of psychic spies in Maryland. The nexus of these, and eventual public disclosure and declassification in the mid-1990s, has led to the modern mental discipline of remote viewing (RV).
The r/remoteviewing subreddit, a niche, non-pornographic interest group focused on the history, development, and practice of this discipline of targeted, intentional, non-local perception, has been sprouting like gangbusters. I’ve been along for the ride for much of this last year as the junior moderator and have seen our membership more than triple.
